In 1956 another story by Striano, La prima notte ( The first night ) was selected for the Pozzale prize. On march the 11 th 1956 Enzo Striano published the story Reparto diversi ( Department diverse ) an original example of industrial literature winner of the prize Un racconto per il Congresso ( A novel for the Congress ) on the weekly CGL illustrated magazine «Lavoro». The story has been edited for the second time in 1999 by «Dante e Descartes», Neapolitan publishing house by Raimondo Di Maio.
Striano graduated discussing a dissertation on La prostituzione ai tempi di Masaniello ( Prostitution at Masaniello's times .)
In 1957 the autobiographical story La linea gotica ( The gothic line ) recalling the terrible experiences of the ending war period, was awarded the prize «Castellammare». This story has never been published.
Encouraged by this critical success, Enzo Striano became more and more committed to writing and literature: in 1958 completed and rewrited the first version of Giornale di adolescenza .( Adolescence journal ) The last version of the novel, completed in 1961, was bound together with the short novel Nausica ed Odisseo ( Nausica and Odisseo ) still unpublished. In a “note” following the manuscripts the author points out that the two novels should be published together in order to confirm a symbolic connection of the story of the young Mario and the story of the man Odisseo. Striano is nevertheless aware that he is suggesting an ambitious and unattainable editorial project. In 2000, posthumous, Giornale di adolescenza has been finally published by Mondadori.
Between the end of the Fifties and the beginning of the Sixities Striano tries to develop literary relations and contacts with the big Italian editorial circuit. But he receives vague responses: it is the beginning of a period of exclusion, during which the writer suffered for his isolation but became more and more ideologically independent.
In the same period his political commitment and his experience as a journalist come to end. Appointed by Giorgio Amendola chief of the sport features in the Roman editorial staff of «L'Unità», within few months Striano rejects the task and comes back to Naples . At the same time, not convinced by the ambiguous positions held by the Communists about the “Hungarian facts”, he decided to leave the Communist party.
His civil and social commitment has been nonetheless kept alive in his work as high school history and literature teacher in the following years, spent teaching, working on the edition of original school books and writing incessantly, experimenting new ideas and themes.
In 1968 Enzo Striano publishes the folder Le quattro giornate di Napoli ( The four days of Naples ) , containing a critical introduction, documents and a corpus of journals and posters.in the series Le fonti della storia (History fonts) edited by Nuova Italia.
Between 1968 and 1969 writes Un'etica per Narciso . Appunti per un'ideologia della società dei consumi ( An ethic for Narcisus. Notes for a ideology of the consume society ) a long essay on the evolution of society towards the post modern age. The essay is still unpublished .>>>>>>>>
